Mark Knopfler tickets
Mark Knopfler tickets are on sale now!!
Mark Knopfler will be performing shows from May to August 2015, which will be the first opportunity for fans to hear live tracks from his upcoming album, Tracker, due to be released through Virgin/EMI records in January 2015. Mark Knopfler will visit the Genting Arena Birmingham on 23 May 2015.
Amid the new material, when the audiences call for the songs that became part of all our lives, he will relish it. “The thing about the old Straits songs is that these things are signposts for people’s lives. Obviously I’ll play things differently here and there to keep it alive and meaningful to me, and away from a cabaret thing. But there are things, like the twiddly bits at the end of ‘Sultans,’ if you don’t do your twiddly bits, the world’s not right for people. I like playing the old songs, I wrote them and people like to hear them, it’s as simple as that.”
Knopfler, who is currently applying the finishing touches to Tracker in his west London studio, British Grove, will be performing with a seven-piece band most of whom have been working with him for the best part of two decades;
Guy Fletcher (keyboards), Richard Bennett (guitar), Jim Cox (piano), Mike McGoldrick (whistle and flute), John McCusker (fiddle and cittern), Glenn Worf (bass), and Ian Thomas (drums).
Tracker will be Knopfler’s ninth solo album a sequence that started in 1996 with Golden Heart. The album also contains guest performances from Ruth Moody, Bruce Molsky, Nigel Hitchcock and Phil Cunningham.
A multiple Grammy award winner Knopfler continues to combine his wry lyrics with his guitar prowess and has created such major hits as Money For Nothing, Sultans Of Swing, Romeo and Juliet, Walk of Life, What It Is and Sailing To Philadelphia. He has collaborated with many other artists such as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Randy Newman, Van Morrison and Emmylou Harris, as well as scoring several films including Cal, Local Hero and Princess Bride.
