With tickets for their April UK tour long since sold out, JAMES have announced further tour dates for later in the year including a concert at Birmingham’s NIA on Saturday 13 December 2008.
The band reformed last year for a series of concerts that reminded everyone of the lasting legacy of one of the 90’s biggest UK acts. The reformation actually came about from a desire amongst the three founder members, Tim Booth, Larry Gott and Jim Glennie, to play together again. The fruits of that desire are ably demonstrated by the band’s first album since 2001’s Pleased To Meet You, Hey Ma, recently released. Conclusively justifying their decision to reform, Hey Ma has already been described by The Times as 'classic James with intricate instrumental work married to inventive melodies’ and Q, who opined that ‘Tim Booth sounds like a singer reborn’, whilst the shows themselves are best summed up by The Guardian’s assertion that ‘this doesn’t feel like a reformation, but a second coming’.
Ever humble, the trio (and the now settled seven piece line-up last seen together on Gold Mother, which spawned the hits How Was It For You, Come Home, Sit Down and Lose Control and follow up Seven) continue to be surprised by the clamour for tickets for shows which has seen both the current tour and last year’s jaunt sell out in record time.
These dates see the band up the ante with arena production following their current more intimate dates as JAMES continue to reclaim their place at the top table of UK music. Support comes from ATHLETE.
